5 Easy Braids In a Ponytail – Braids For Beginners

5 easy braids in a high ponytail are what we are covering today. I’m showing 3 very simple braids, such as a 3 strand braid, a fishtail braid, and a rope braid. Then there are 2 more difficult ones, which is a 4 strand round braid and a 5 strand braid.

I’m very sure you can find a braid, that will fit whatever style you´re going for!

5 Easy Basic Braids for beginners

You don’t have to do these easy braids in a high ponytail if you don’t like to wear your hair up like that. All these braids can also be done in loose hair down your back, on one side, or in a half up half down hairstyle, if that is more comfortable for you.

These braids are great for when you want to spice up a ponytail, for when you need a very practical hairstyle or for that greasy second or thrid day hair, that is perfect for a slick ponytail!

Step By Step Guide To Braiding

How To Rope Braid in 4 simple steps

  1.  Split the hair into 2 equal sections
  2. Twist both strands clockwise a few times
  3. Then cross the right strand over the left strand, so they switch place
  4. Repeat step 2-3 until you reach the end of the hair, then tie the braid off

How To 3 strand Braid in 4 simple steps

  1. Split the hair into 3 equal sections, so you have a left, middle, and right strand
  2. Cross the right strand over and into the middle, so the right strand and middle strand switch places
  3. Then cross the left strand over and into the middle, so the left strand and middle strand switch places
  4. Repeat step 2-3 until you reach the end of the hair, then tie the braid off

How To 4 Strand Round Braid in 8 simple steps

  1. Split the hair into 4 equal sections
  2. let go of the 2 outer sections, so you only have the middle strands in your hands
  3. Then cross the right strand over the left strand, so they switch place
  4. Then from the left side, reach under the 2 strands and grab the outer right strand and place it in the middle of the 2 strands
  5. Then let go of the right strand so you are holding the 2 middle strands again
  6. Then from the right side, reach under the 2 strands and grab the outer left strand and place it in the middle of the 2 strands
  7. Then let go of the left strand so you are holding the 2 middle strands again
  8. Repeat step 4-7 until you reach the end of the hair, then tie the braid off

How To 5 Strand Braid step by step in 4 simple steps

  1. Split the hair into 5 equal sections as good as you can
  2. Take the outer right strand and cross it over the first strand and under the next strand
  3. Then take the outer left strand and cross it over the first strand and under the next strand
  4. Repeat step 2-3 until you reach the end of the hair, then tie the braid off

How To Fishtail Braid for beginners in 6 simple steps

  1. Split the hair into 2 equal sections
  2. Grab a small sections from under the right strand
  3. Then cross the small strand over and add it to the left strand
  4. Again, grab a small sections from under the left strand
  5. Then cross the small strand over and add it to the right strand
  6. Repeat step 2-5 until you reach the end of the hair, then tie the braid off
