How to create 6 hairstyles from 1 simple braid

How to rope braid

The rope braid is the braid you need to learn, as it’s the base in all 6 hairstyles. It’s very easy and really quick to do and looks amazing in hairstyles!

  1. Split the hair into 2 equal sections
  2. Then twist both strands clockwise a few times so both strands are twisted
  3. Wrap the right strand over the left strand so they switch places
  4. Again twist both strands clockwise
  5. Then take the right strand and cross it over the left stand so they switch places
  6. Repeat steps 2-5 until you reach the end of the hair
  7. Take an elastic and tie off the braid

Braided Half Up Half Down

This hairstyle is perfect if you want to give the half-up half-down hairstyle a go. This version is a great place to start as it only had one braid.

  1. Take a section of hair from the front to the back of the head (You need enough hair to d a braid)
  2. Smooth out the top of the hair with either your fingers or a brush to get rid of any tangles there might be
  3. Split the hair into 2 equal sections
  4. Braid the hair into a rope braid (See “How to rope braid” above)

Rope braided pigtails

A pigtail hairstyle is such a cute and pretty hairstyle to do! If you are not going for the pigtail look, then you can twist the braids around themselves and secure them, to create a cute bun hairstyle instead (See the tutorial below on how to create a bun)

  1. Grab a rat tail comb and part the hair down the back as good as you can
  2. Take a hair clip and clip one side away – you can also tie the hair away with a hair tie
  3. Then split the hair into 2 equal sections
  4. Now braid the hair like a rope braid – (See “How to rope braid” above) When you braid the right side, twist the hair to the right and then wrap the right strand over the left strand, so they switch places. When you braid the left side, do the opposite so twist the hair to the left and then wrap the left strand over the right strand, so they switch places.
  5. Take down the hair on the other side
  6. Then repeat steps 3-4 and create another braid

Double braided half up half down

A ponytail can sometimes be a bit boring so an easy way to level it up, is to add a braid. It gives a nice beautiful and polished look and it only takes a couple of minutes more!

  1. Grab a small section of hair at the front on both sides
  2. Take one of the sections and pull the hair in the direction you want the braid to go and split the hair into 2 equal sections
  3. Braid the hair into a rope braid (See “How to rope braid” above) The braid needs to be so long that it can reach past the middle of the back of the head.
  4. Repeat steps 1-3 on the other side, so you have 2 braids
  5. Take both braids and tie them together in the middle with an elastic
  6. remove the 2 elastics at the end of the braids and untie the ends
